Fanaticism implies that the follower in question is a fanatic; and although there's nothing really wrong with being fanatical, it seems much nicer to call such interest devotion.
When you know that you are devoted to someone or something, feel good about it, even if it is a "guilty" pleasure. After all, a guilty pleasure is still a pleasure, isn't it?
